Representatives of the oil and gas industry in Germany called on the government to make an effort to support future domestic production with the new rules of freking and technological development. The Ministry of Environment is preparing a legal framework for regulating drilling and promises strict environmental audits, which include a ban on drilling in water protection zones.
The draft law saw the media in November last year, the government plans to stop a direct prohibition on the extraction method of freking. The law should be discussed by the government until the end of March. Limitation of freking may threaten the development of the German experience production inaccessible reserves, said Bachmann with Wintershall, division BASF.
However, the opposition of freking remains strong because of fears of damage to the environment, in connection with which the German authorities and politicians have become more reluctant to offer new exploration permit, even for conventional technologies.
WEG German Association says it will push the exception of potential reserves in prohibited areas. Plans to allow freking only at a depth of 3000 meters (3300 yards) excludes some conventional gas fields.
