Poland will intensify the purchase of LNG from Qatar and Nigeria to replace russian gas
Poland bought a second LNG tanker from Nigeria this month to diversify supplies and cut off russian gas amid russia's invasion of Ukraine. This is reported by Kpler. So, on March 23, the Pan Europe tanker flying the flag of Hong Kong will deliver more than 100 million cubic meters of LNG to the Polish terminal of Swinoujsce. The tanker departed from the Nigerian terminal of Bonny on March 1. This is already the third LNG tanker from Nigeria for Poland, two of which will arrive in March this year.
The first LNG tanker from Qatar, Al Huwaila, with a volume of 120 million cubic meters, has already arrived in Poland and become the sixth since the beginning of the year. In March, PGNiG plans to receive 5 LNG cargoes, which is the same as in the previous two months. "The terminal in Swinoujscie has never before received so many LNG shipments in one month. This year, PGNiG has reserved about 6.2 billion cubic meters of capacity for regasification, which is 1 billion cubic meters more than the year before," PGNiG reported.
It should be noted that most of the deliveries were bought on the spot, but the first delivery from Qatar was made under a long-term contract with Qatargas.
