Ukraine Has Secured Guaranteed Capacity at the Future LNG Terminal in Klaipėda – Prime Minister

Ukraine has secured guaranteed LNG regasification capacity at the new terminal in Klaipėda, which is currently under construction, Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi announced.

"Ukraine has already made a commitment and, in return, has secured guaranteed capacity at the new LNG terminal in Klaipėda, which is currently under construction. And as soon as it becomes operational, we will be able to ensure a guaranteed gas supply for Ukraine’s energy stability and security, for which I sincerely thank our partners,” Koretsky said at a press conference with Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius in Lutsk, according to an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reporting from the scene.

He did not specify the capacity of the facility.

According to information from open sources, construction of a new modern cruise terminal in Klaipėda, costing over EUR50 million, is scheduled to be fully completed by the end of 2027.

As previously reported, in June 2026, the Naftogaz Group secured long-term LNG regasification capacity in Europe for the first time, specifically at the LNG terminal in Klaipėda (Lithuania), for the period from 2033 to 2044. The terminal operator, KN Energies, successfully completed the corresponding allocation procedure.

During Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Canada in September 2026, Naftogaz signed a memorandum with Kino Aski LNG regarding potential long-term supplies of Canadian liquefied natural gas. According to Serhiy Fedorenko, acting chairman of Naftogaz’s board, as part of this cooperation, the group, together with Kino Aski LNG, will assess the potential demand for Canadian LNG in Europe and the possibilities for its supply, in particular through the use of Naftogaz’s long-term LNG terminal capacity—
