South Africa in June reduced gold production by 1.2%

South Africa in June 2014 reduced gold production by 1.2% compared to the same period last year, according to the national statistics agency of the country. Extraction of platinum group metals (PGM) in the reporting period fell by 37.2%, production of raw diamonds increased by 51.3%. Total mining (PI) decreased by 5.7%.
Sales PI in May compared with the same month of the previous year increased by 1.9% and amounted to 29.643 billion rand (2.8 billion dollars).. In particular, gold sales fell by 12.4% to 3.679 billion rand (346.5 million dollars. Platinum - by 5.4% to 5.187 billion rand (488.6 million dollars)..
