The president's administration proposed to continue the competition for the largest deposit on the shelf
Gerus noted that earlier a number of mass media indicated the non-transparency of the competition and the too short deadlines for submitting applications for participation in it.
"On June 3 (even before these journalistic investigations), the presidential administration sent a letter to the government with a request to re-announce this competition. The position is based on the appeals of the world's major oil and gas companies, which claimed that 60 days is too short a period to analyze and make a decision on such large and complex gas fields. According to world practice, 4-9 months are usually given for submitting applications in such cases," Gerus said.
The president's representative reminded that the opening of applications should take place today at 5:30 p.m.
"But we hope that the government will re-announce the tender with terms that will allow major global oil and gas companies to submit their applications," Gerus added.
