Naftogaz completes 3D seismic on the first block of the Black Sea shelf with an area of 5,000 sq km
Maksym Vityk, director of strategic projects of the "Exploration and Extraction" division of the Naftogaz Group, said this at the opening of the Seventh International Scientific and Practical Conference "Subsoil Use in Ukraine. Investment prospects" in Lviv on November 29, 2021, organized by the State Commission of Ukraine on Mineral Reserves.
As Mr. Vityk previously reported, the total volume of 3D seismic research to be conducted by the PGS company is 23,000 square kilometers. The processing and interpretation of the data obtained thanks to the specified geological exploration studies on the sea shelf are planned until the end of 2022.
In his speech, he talked about the main projects of Naftogaz:
"This year is very important and breakthrough for the entire industry, and in particular for the Naftogaz group, as we received the right to work on the Black Sea shelf. Where we are already conducting 3D seismic together with the PGS company. We are already finishing the first block of this seismic, it is 5000 sq. km in shallow water, literally, 7% of this territory remains, which is a breakthrough in this direction. Another new large project on which we are currently preparing for drilling is the Yuzivska area. Where drilling is planned for the first quarter of next year, as well as the continuation of the repair of existing wells. And the third project is in Western Ukraine, where we are actively studying deep horizons in our areas. And we cooperate with companies from jurisdictions - Romanian OMV-Petrom and Polish PGNiG. We are also actively working on our recently acquired lots in open e-auctions. One of these is Yuzhno Rusanivska Square, on which we will soon start work."
